About Me
Lauren is a progressive public school educator who’s made a career in the Pasadena area for the past 20 years. She taught in grades Kinder through 2nd for eight years in the Pasadena Unified School District, before joining the staff of Odyssey Charter School as a founding teacher in 1999. During her twelve year career at Odyssey, Lauren has served as Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, and for the past five years as the Executive Director. In this role, she provides leadership and guidance to ensure the schools mission of educating all students on an individual level is upheld.
She is passionate about public education and believes by working together students, teachers and parents can foster a thoughtful learning environment that includes a sense of compassion, awareness and sensitivity to each other. She believes children learn and work best in a cooperative, non-competitive environment where student's thoughts and opinions are honored and respected.
Lauren earned a Masters Degree in Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Pacific Oaks College and an undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University. Beyond the countless hours spent at Odyssey, she enjoys gardening, traveling and reading.
