Ecosystem Report

3rd/4th Life Science Unit Ecosystems Due Date: January 25, 2010 Assessment: Students will complete a research report on a habitat of their choice. They must choose one of the following: Arroyo Seco Amazon Rain Forest Pacific North-West Rainforest Sahara Desert The Tundra ( North America) North Polar Region Criteria: The report must include a cover page and be approximately 1 ½ -3rd graders, 2 pages 4th graders ( 3 total with cover) and must include the following: 1. Habitat location 2. Climate (highs, lows, is it rainy? Snowy? Dry? Wet? 3. Names and descriptions of 2-3 animals and how each is adapted to their environment 4. Names and descriptions of 2-3 plants and how each is adapted to their environment. 5. A food web specific to the habitat. 6. A description of endangered species or environmental threats to the habitat 7. Visual representation (diorama, collage, drawing, etc.) FYI: They will have another computer lab time on Tuesday to gather more information about their project. On Wednesday, they will have a period in class to write their report. Whatever is not completed by Wednesday needs to be completed at home by the following Monday, January 25th.
