About Denise Martinez

This is Denise's sixth year at Odyssey. She completed her Masters in Education at Antioch University with a focus on school gardens. Prior to Odyssey Denise worked and volunteered with various non-profits. She worked with homeless children and continues to volunteer with high-risk youth creating arts and education programs. Denise is passionate about the environment and is becoming an avid gardener; she tries to incorporate both into her teaching with a focus on creating, questioning, and exploration. She believes that children learn best when they can apply knowledge to past and present personal experience. In her spare time Denise loves to hike, travel, get immersed in a good book, work in the garden, and cook.
