Unit 1: What is the story of our food?

Behind every morsel of food that we eat, there is a story. Like the epic stories in literature, the story of our food has profound consequences on our world. To help us unravel and better understand the stories of our food, we will be reading The Omnivore's Dilemma, Young Readers Addition by Michael Pollan. Students will be working on the following objectives for this unit:

  • Examine the story behind their food.
  • Evaluate the effect of their food choices on people and the environment.
  • Consider ways that food can nourish individuals, families, and society.
  • Take action to address food-related issues at home, at school, and in the community.
